I Own Far Too Little Green

Outfit: Dress - Meadow Rue (Anthropologie), Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell, Necklace - Vintage

As the title of this post states, I own far too little green. Which is interesting because it is such a striking color. Maybe it is so striking because how often do you see someone wearing a solid green dress? I had been eyeing this dress at Anthropologie for about a month now. Initially it was the drop waist that attracted me. All my dresses hit my waist so this is a perfect change up to my closet.

I am also really, REALLY into the color orange right now. Last Summer, I was in Nordstrom and found these shoes. I loved them, but at the time I hadn't bought Lita's yet so I couldn't bring myself to buy this lovely pair. Well sometimes waiting pays off (sometimes). Last month, I went to Nordstrom Rack and found the exact pair in my size and color in the clearance section for $48.99! I'm still reeling over this purchase.

I can't wait to wear this dress on St. Patrick's Day :)

Not Just Any Mint Top

Outfit: Shorts - Old Navy, Shoes - Elle, Top - Left of Center (Anthropologie), Necklace - Charlotte Russe

Have I mentioned to you guys that I am obsessed with anything and everything mint? When I saw this top at Anthropologie I immediately love it because of the color, then I saw the back. I LOVE finding tops with openings in the back, especially ones that will show show back without forcing you to wear a bandeau or unique bra. This top is at Anthropologie right now at a great price point (for Anthro) of $38.00.

I already now that as the warm season approaches, the mint items in my closet will start to multiple.

Also, I found these amazing cobalt mary jane heels at Kohl's for 16.99! Are they not the cutest thing?! I am so obsessed with the shape of the heel.

Missoni Luggage and Bib Necklaces

Outfit: Top w/ Belt - F21, Wedges - H&M, Bag - Missoni for Target, Pants - Anthropologie, Watch - Michael Kors.

When I went to Target that Tuesday morning for Missoni, I found this luggage bag and because I was already buying so much, my guilty conscious forced me to let go of the bag. However, I happen to have the best boyfriend in the world who found it at a Target in Utah and bought it for me. I'm not really sure how I could have lived without it (ever feel that way about fashion?). I use it every time I travel and even as a bag. I'm slightly obsessed with this color combination.

I also want to mention how much I love bib necklaces under the collar of a button-up top. I especially love how this necklace has chains hanging from large stones. Forever 21 always has some amazing necklaces for this look. Well, they have some amazing costume jewelry in general. I find whenever I wear their jewelry I get so many compliments. Surprisingly, I find many people still don't think to look at Forever 21 for jewelry. To say they are missing out is an understatement.

As I am writing this, I just saw the cutest Jason Wu for target commercial. February 5th! It's so close!

Playing with lines

Outfit: Dress - Anthropologie ($78 originally sale $30), Jacket - Old Navy ($35), Bag - Vintage ($15) Shoes - Target ($15), Belt - H&M ($15)

It happened. I admit it. I am a complete sucker for maxi dresses now. I don't know how it happened or when it happened but in 2 short months my collection of maxi's has grown by four. I think I have now discovered what type of maxi dresses I like so I know what I am looking for.

While I still love my blue paisley maxi dress I wore earlier, what I look for now are thinner, simpler dresses that I can play up and make casual with sweaters, jackets and accessories.  Also, I tend to be more attracted to maxi's that are more straight from top to bottom, with a slight A-line forming at the calf.

I picked up this dress at Anthropologie recently and I was initially attracted to the colors. Then I noticed the amazing way the stripes are laid out on this dress. Horizontal stripes can be intimidating for a lot of people because they tend to make you look wide. However, on this dress, starting on the hip there is added material with stripes going vertical creating a slimming, lean look. The result is so flattering and quite beautiful the way it falls. I am completely taken with this dress. Additionally it has long sleeves which is great for the coming cool season. You may also notice that my favorite jacket to wear with maxi's is my jean one. I think it is because wearing a long dress can make you feel formal, but adding jean to the mix also make something more casual.

PS - Happy Halloween! I hope you all had an amazing weekend and a great safe night tonight! One of my great friends and I were Wayne and Garth from Wayne's World. What do you think?

When The Weather Is Indecisive...

Outfit: Sweater - Anthropologie ($98), Skirt - Forever 21 ($15)

Freshly back from the crisp weather of Salt Lake City and I am not sure the Bay Area can decide whether it wants to stay cold or hot. When I left it was raining, today the weather seems warm and I am in the mood for sweaters and leggings. Well when the weather is indecisive, I am going be indecisive as well! So because I can't decide whether to wear jeans and a sweater or shorts and a tank, I will just bare my legs WITH a sweater.

I absolutely love this sweater I bought at Anthropology, the colors are some of my favorite (yellow and maroon) and I can't get enough of the shape. It is very fitted in the sleeves, but extremely wide around the waist giving it a lovely draping effect. It may be one of the more pricier pieces in my closet, but well worth it. Seriously, I wish you could all feel the softness from your screens at home.

I also bought this skirt at Forever 21 in August and I love the color. The skirts falls beautifully while worn. My only complaint is it gets wrinkled more easily than any item I own. However, I can deal spending a few extra minutes ironing in the morning for something so cute :)

Skin Pop

 Outfit: Skirt - Anthropologie ($9.99), Top - Forever 21 ($20), Heels - Jessica Simpson ($20)

Who ever said the more skin you show, the sexier you are clearly didn't have much fashion sense. This outfit has a longer hem and a turtle neck, yet, I still felt extremely sexy in it. It probably has to do with the fact that my tight black turtle neck has a beautiful round opening in the back. It is such an exciting and unexpected pop of skin that, while I'm pretty covered up, I still feel beautiful.

Sometimes outfits with an usual opening of skin showing can be more sexy that letting it all hang out (not to mention much more classy). And just for fun I added red pumps to the mix, for the added "oomph".

I love these longer hem skirts and can not wait to transition them into fall with leggings and booties :)

Girly Afternoon

Outfit: Skirt - H&M ($19), Top - Anthropologie ($30), Wedges - Jessica Simpson ($18)

I'm sure many of you have noticed that my style changes day to day. Sometimes I will sport combat boots and a Disney shirt and other days I am all about florals. Fashion is way to much fun to limit yourself to one particular style.

This past weekend I was feeling very girly. This white lace top I picked up at Anthropologie on sale and it has instantly become one of my favorite tops. Between the lace shoulders and the scalloped bottom  this top is an effortless piece that can amp up any outfit. I am always on the lookout for dresses or tops that you can throw on quickly and instantly look chic and put together.

This top is slightly cropped so I paired it with a high-waisted pleated skirt and white wedges (yes I wore white shoes after Labor Day, that rule is outdated). I also want to mention that a lot of my jewelry I buy for extremely low prices at Forever 21 and I am constantly getting complements everywhere I go. The silver ring I am wearing has painted peacock feathers in the middle and people always think I got it at some jewelry boutique. Little do they know it was $3.99. BUT you must be careful when bargain jewelry shopping at Forever 21, seven pieces of jewelry under $10 can easily add up to $50. This happens to me often, so I advise you all to beware...

Size Is Only A Number

Outfit: Top - Antrhopologie ($9.99), Skirt - LC ($12), Belt - H&M ($10)

I remember the days when I was obsessed with what size my clothing was. Almost to the point where I would stop myself from buying something I had wanted because, "There's no way I'm THAT size." Well the past few years I have learned something magical that has changed my confidence and wardrobe.

Size doesn't matter.

I've come to the point where it is truly just a number or word. In fact, I often find myself sizing up just because I am really into oversized clothing lately (blame Rachel Zoe). It's quite wonderful actually because when I want a shirt that a store doesn't have in my exact size I never fret because I just buy a large. The lilac shirt I am wearing above is, in fact, a large. I fell in love with the slouchy pockets and cut-out back, so when I only saw it available in a large I didn't think twice and bought it.

My fashion lesson of the day is to not be afraid of what the tag says on your clothing because it may end up limiting you. I am a firm believer that women of any size can look fashionable and fabulous. It's all about confidence :)
