Styling Elements - Part One

How many of us have pieces in our closet that we absolutely love, but we wear them the same exact way every time we put them on? As a result, we end up rarely wearing these great pieces because we don't want people thinking we only have one great outfit. So, I decided to do a two part post wearing the same sweater and leggings, but changing my stylings elements to create a completely different look. It's pretty amazing what some shoes and scarves can do :)

Let me introduce you to my very bright, very pink sweater. I love wearing this sweater in the winter, not only is it warm, but when everyone is wearing neutral tones during cold weather I stand out. And I love standing out. The other day I paired it with my favorite infinity scarf and Litas. I love the look of wearing one bright color with all black and white (I think I have a thing for black and white). I love the way these elements look paired with this sweater. I felt like a modern "Pink Lady" from Grease and, since I love that movie, it was a pretty great feeling :)

Snow Panda

Outfit: Hat - Gift from Ryan, Boots - Soda ($30), Scarf - H&M ($12), Jacket - Express ($150), White Blouse - Forever 21 ($15)

My favorite place to visit when I come to Utah is Park City. Yesterday Ryan and I got some Christmas shopping done at the outlets and then went to Olympic Museum that sits right in front of the HUGE Olympic Ski Jump. I can't believe people actually fly down that jump and survive, it's absolutely incredible. I didn't understand this until I actually had the pleasure of seeing the jump in person.

During my life I haven't really ventured that much into the snow, thus I own virtually no snow appropriate clothes. However, if I am being honest I don't believe you need to wear massive puffy coats and snow boots in order to stay warm. I mean, it snows in NYC and you still people walking around in high heels. So I opted for my trusty leather jacket and military boots accompanied by my fox scarf and (too cute for words) panda hat. Ryan got me this hat as a gift about a month ago and mailed it me. He chose a panda because one of my greatest weaknesses, besides shopping, is Panda Express.

Animal hats are everywhere right now. They are so much fun and if there is a point in my life that I can get away with wearing a cute panda on my head, you better believe I am going to take advantage of it. My favorite part about my panda hat is the nose. In the photos above that contain my profile you can see that the nose is three-dimensional and actually protrudes out from the hat. I have yet to find another animal hat with this quality. Ryan did well, as always.

Black and Very White In Park City, UT

Is that bridge not straight out of a storybook? Yesterday Ryan made a little trip to Park City, Utah (only 20 minutes away from SLC) and we were so lucky to experience the first snowfall of the season. It was absolutely beautiful, especially considering I haven't seen snow fall like that since I was very young.

I got this infinity scarf last winter and it actually served to be very handy in the snow. When the snow started falling pretty heavy I simply brought up the back to cover my hair like a hood. However, that is not why I originally purchased it :) When I saw this scarf I immediately pictured wearing it in an all black and white outfit, which is exactly how I decided to wear it yesterday. Sometimes there is something so chic and modern about wearing all black with some white. 

PS - Isn't this leather jacket awesome? I just love the detail of the quilted pattern, the zippers and the pink inside. It was a gift last year from Ryan for our anniversary. He knows me well :)

I Like Pretty Things

Outfit: Kimono Blazer - Urban Outfitters ($30), Shorts - Express ($40), Floral Top - H&M ($16), Socks - Forever 21 ($3), Shoes - Charlotte Russe ($25)

I must say, apart from black, I love wearing shades of pink. I always seem to find myself reaching toward anything coral (orange-pink) or pale pink. I think it's because these colors look great on all skin tones. The other day while sale shopping at Urban Outfitters (usually that is the only section I visit, it's just too painful to look at all the other pretty things I can not afford), I found this fabulous chiffon blazer/kimono piece. In such a beautiful shade of pale pink, finding the last one in my size on the rack gave me that excited feeling in the pit of my stomach. 

I had been seeing kimonos on several blogs and magazines. I have been desperately wanting one for sometime now, however, I couldn't really find one at the right price. When I saw this I had to have it. It is kimono-like, but a bit more interesting because of the lapels. Moreover, I really feel like this piece is so beautiful and versatile. I am wearing it with shorts here, but think it would be great at night over a cocktail dress or paired with jeans and boots. 

P.S. I found these socks at Forever 21 and I just love pairing them with heels or oxfords. They were only $3!
