I'm Just A Bill

Outfit: Dress - H&M ($18), Sweater - H&M ($25), Boots - Cathy Jean ($100)

We went to Capital Hill and all that was replaying over and over in my head was, "I'm just a Bill. Yes, I'm only a Bill. And I'm sitting here on Capital Hill...". Just a little homage to Schoolhouse Rock :)

Anyways, when the weather starts to get colder our legs tend to hide away in jeans, leggings, khakis, you name it. Sadly, our dresses and skirts tend to gather dust for several months. Well I am here to remind you not to neglect your clothing or play favorites.

Simply layer up those dresses and skirts with tights, socks, leg warmers, sweaters, boots, etc. I promise you will love the the effect. It also may be nice for this look to go out and find a couple dresses that are long sleeved. Sounds easy enough, I know. However, sometimes this can be a challenge. In San Diego Naz and I were always on the hunt for long sleeved dresses, so when I found this one I was delighted. First the flower colors are great for Fall and second, I don't really have any casual dresses that fit somewhat tight. The stretch this dress has is super flattering.

So, don't forget to wear your dresses and skirts all year round. Go out and find some playful patterned tights to pair with them!

Skin Pop

 Outfit: Skirt - Anthropologie ($9.99), Top - Forever 21 ($20), Heels - Jessica Simpson ($20)

Who ever said the more skin you show, the sexier you are clearly didn't have much fashion sense. This outfit has a longer hem and a turtle neck, yet, I still felt extremely sexy in it. It probably has to do with the fact that my tight black turtle neck has a beautiful round opening in the back. It is such an exciting and unexpected pop of skin that, while I'm pretty covered up, I still feel beautiful.

Sometimes outfits with an usual opening of skin showing can be more sexy that letting it all hang out (not to mention much more classy). And just for fun I added red pumps to the mix, for the added "oomph".

I love these longer hem skirts and can not wait to transition them into fall with leggings and booties :)

Blood Orange

Outfit: Skirt - H&M, Top - Forever 21 ($14), Clog Heels - Target ($6)

Have you ever eaten a blood orange? While the taste is fantastic, the color is probably the most intriguing part of the fruit. This skirt was given to me for Christmas from Naz and it is truly a fabulous piece. My favorite part is the color. It may look red but, in person, it actually has an orange hue. Much like the beautiful color of blood oranges.

I love pairing this skirt with both casual and dressy heels for day and night looks. A few days ago, I spent sometime with my cousins at my Uncle's house. While he has had a bocce ball court in his backyard forever, I had never learned to play. We spent the day having some fun, family competition. This probably wasn't the best bocce ball outfit, but I truly believe one can never be too dressed up. After all,

The best accessory you can pair with an outfit is confidence.

We Are Family

Outfit: Skirt - Forever 21 ($18), Shoes - Target ($6), Crop Top - Cotton on ($16)

What did my 89 year old grandma say when she saw me in this calf length skirt? "Wow, that looks sharp!" It was probably because she was stunned to see me in any skirt that wasn't high-waisted short. But, I have to say that this skirt is subtly sexy. Because it is sheer, the silhouette of your legs shows underneath creating a sexy and romantic appeal. Since I bought this skirt I have really realized all the different ways to wear it! I can't say I will love these longer skirts forever, but, for now, I think they are a fresh new take on skirts.

On this day I paired it with one of my favorite crop tops from Cotton On for a very casual look. And have I told you how much I love my $6 Target shoes? I think you can tell from my posts that I have been living in them lately :)

P.S. - I know I mentioned my Grandma above and I just wanted to introduce you all to my Grandparents. They are the funniest senior citizens you'll ever meet and I think this picture explain it all.

The Long and Short of It...

Outfit: Bag - H&M ($30), Nude Heels - Forever21 ($20), Skirt - Forever 21 ($17.80),
Bow - American Apparel ($12), Wood Cross - Forever 21 ($4)

Oh the phases skirts have been through. I try to forget the times in high school when I wore my jean and floral skirts low on my hips. And of course they were paired with a short tight tee. I just keep telling myself, "that was the style back then". The past few years I have been collecting countless high-waisted, short, A-line skirts and I absolutely love them. They can be dressed up or down. I practically live in them during the summer.

More recently, longer skirts have been making a comeback. I'm really loving the look of them, but for a time I was having trouble finding them at the right price. A couple days ago I found this really cute pleated one for only $18 from Forever 21. I feel like the cream color is so girly and fresh I just had to pair it with a floral top and bow. I must admit also that I am currently waiting on another sheer maxi skirt coming in the mail. It's safe to say, (at least for the moment) I'm hooked on this style.

Now, I know many people might shy away from this look (after all, we are creatures of habit), but I would really love to know how you all feel about the longer ankle and floor length skirts. Are you on the hunt for them?

Let me know below!
